The thunder rumbles, and a husky talks back

One loud rumble from the sky, and Key's quiet day at home is over. He doesn't care for storms, and he wants that on the record. more

Key, whose full name is K'eyush, is a husky and malamute mix with a lot to say. The day this storm rolls in, he's at home in Devon, England, with Jodie Boo, who has a knack for putting his grumbles into words.

"It was a loud rumble," she tells him. "Very loud." She asks if he's waiting for the thunder. The sky, Jodie decides, has "a rumbly tummy."

Key lets his mum know how he feels about all this, at length. He argues, she answers, and he argues some more. "It's in the sky, Key," she tells him. "What's the matter?"

Jodie keeps up her side of the talk. "All right, raining. Thank you." Later she checks in on the storm itself. "What do you think of the thunder? Only had three rumbles."

The rain is loud, so Key gets louder, as if she might not hear him over it. The way Jodie tells it, he thinks the sky is angry and wants his mum to be careful.

Key looks straight ahead, mouth a little open and ears up, as if he still has more to add. Jodie has one word for him. "Cheeky."

Then he starts to squeak. "Why are you squeaking, Key?" she asks. "What, need oiling?"
