Wobbly cat Willy gets a wobbly little brother
Willy Wonky lives in a house built around his wobble. Then a kitten shows up who wobbles just like him. more
Willy is what cat people call a wobbly cat. His steps are never quite steady, so a trip down the hall is a small balancing act. Mandy and Phillip, his people, turned the whole house around to meet his needs. Runners cover the hardwood floors, and he eats in a little stall he can walk into, with the bowl raised so he doesn't fall over and make a mess.
SaveThe part of his routine people love most is the litter box. Willy can't get in and out on his own, so he gets lifted and flown in like a small plane coming in to land. None of it slows him down. He is spunky, always trying to play with the other cats, and he loves to lie on your chest and snuggle.
Then a friend tells Mandy about a shelter that needs help placing a wobbly cat. That's Charlie, a black and white kitten with the very same wobble, and Willy's solo act becomes a double act.
SaveWilly takes the newcomer on as his own and shows him the ins and outs of the house. Soon the two are together all the time. Charlie loves to groom his big brother, and when one of them tumbles, the other is right there with a lick. They play. They nap side by side.
About a month and a half later, Mandy and Phillip make it official, and Charlie joins the family for good. Willy's review of the news is a growl, timed so perfectly that viewers keep bringing it up.
SaveMandy says she went into it feeling a lot more confident this time. Special needs animals, she says, "don't know that they're any different." She thinks her home will be open to many more.
The condition has a name, CH, short for cerebellar hypoplasia. Willy and Charlie don't call it anything. They just get where they're going, usually together.
